Prunasin hydrolase
WebMar 3, 2024 · Plants and phytophagous arthropods have coevolved in a long battle for survival. Plants respond to phytophagous feeders by producing a battery of antiherbivore chemical defences, while herbivores try to adapt to their hosts by attenuating the toxic effect of the defence compounds. Cyanogenic glucosides are a widespread group of defence … WebMay 14, 2008 · As regards the two loci suggested for a cyanoglucoside catabolic activity with a role in seed bitterness, they could correspond to those coding for amygdalin hydrolase …

WebNov 8, 2024 · Prunasin hydrolase (PH) is a β-glucosidase that degrades prunasin to mandelonitrile and glucose. Amygdalin hydrolase hydrolyzes amygdalin to prunasin … (R)-prunasin begins with the common amino acid phenylalanine, which in plants is produced via the Shikimate pathway in primary metabolism. The pathway is catalyzed mainly by two cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes and a UDP-glucosyltransferase (UGT). After (R)-prunasin is formed, it is either converted into amygdalin by an additional UDP-glucosyltransferase or degraded into benzaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide.
WebIsolation and characterization of multiple forms of prunasin hydrolase from black cherry (Prunus serotina Ehrh.) seeds WebAlthough amygdalin hydrolase occurred within the majority of procambial cells, prunasin hydrolase was confined to the periph-eral layers of this meristematic tissue. Highest levels of mandelo-nitrile lyase were observed in the protein bodies of the cotyledon-ary parenchyma cells, with lesser amounts in the procambial cell protein bodies.
