It can also be useful for anyone trying to annotate a conversation or the style of a participant in a conversation. WebGail Jefferson (22 April 1938 – 21 February 2008) was an American sociologist with an emphasis in sociolinguistics. She was, along with Harvey Sacks and Emanuel Schegloff, one of the founders of the area of research known as conversation analysis (CA).
