Obviously, a flat-blade screw driver and a pair of needle-nose pliers does the trick (which even the service manual recommends), but it takes more time (than I think it should) and half of the clips end up with chewed-up tops. Use a bit that is about 1/16" larger than the diameter of the rivet, center the bit on the nail hole and drill until you feel resistance. This will be the broken off nail that remains in the shank for strength.
