Due to its capacity to deplete T and B cells, to inhibit B and T cell cooperation as well as leucocyte adhesion and to induce certain ‘tolerogenic’ regulatory T cell and dendritic cell (DC) populations, antithymocyte globulin (ATG) is a good candidate drug to prevent and treat both acute T cell (TCMR) and antibody-mediated rejection (ABMR).
