WebHi! I had a lot of City Year friends while I was doing my service year. San Jose has a high cost of living. They shared a room with other City Year staff (2-3 per room) and had very little spending money even after food stamps. Sorry I couldn’t be more but I live in the area and can provide more insight on that! WebCity Year gets more applicants than other programs, so they are more selective, but they also keep their ranks open enough for a few non-traditional members. I applied to where needed I think, so I didn't really care which site I got into, I was just excited about City Year.
